Below is a collection of documents that relate to the Vergude Draeck 1656.

  • My interest in what happed to the 75 survivors who came ashore after the wrecking of the Dutch East Indian ship the Vergulde Draeck 1656 was triggered after reading Treasure in Australia is not for the finder by Allan Robinson.

  • I have spoken with locals who used to visit the coast, tried to relocate and report on some significant sites, spent many hours detecting and gather together information from a variety of sources.

  • These documents have been gathered from a variety of sources including the western Australian Maritime Museum, oral histories, WA Historical Society, the Battey Library.

  • Much of the research was commenced in the late 1990s so there is probably additional information at those locations that that has since come to light that is not included in this information resource.

  • The files have been ordered into a number of categories, the wreck site, inscriptions, searches, items possibly from the wreck, coins on shore, historical documents wrecks reference materials, skeletons

  • Any suggestions or further information is appreciated, see the contact us section.
